Bosley Gravel short stories and “Tiny Novels in Black and White”

Ballad of a Melting Man by Bosley Gravel (EDITOR’S PICK)

Calm, still pools reflect; turbulent eddies, whirlpools, and the occasional cascading waterfall bring thrill; but there are rocks, unseen and deadly, hiding beneath the surging waters…. (Literary)

Editor’s Note: Bosley Gravel has to be one of the most gifted talents at work in fiction today. Across the genres, from commercial to literary, this author continues to intrigue, startle, and entertain. Now he takes us upon a most exquisite journey through time and life. Revel in a rich personal landscape. Enjoy the currents. I did. …Delicate; significant. —zentao

Blue Jungle Moon by Bosley Gravel

Once a year it happens — a once-a-year macabre.

Editor’s Note: Bosley Gravel is one of my favorite authors.  I especially enjoy his unplotted journeys that dwell…like this one.  — zentao

Earned Apples by Bosley Gravel

What fruit has the ghetto to offer, and is it a place for children? Only Wess and the Apple Lady know. (Literary)

Editor’s Note: A slice of ghetto life, Earned Apples tells of an unlikely friendship; two folks joined in observation. But really it’s the author’s astute observations that bring these harsh realities to us, his readers, in a wonderfully matter-of-fact voice and style. Great stuff again, Bosley. Thank you. —womblin

Gaolbirds, a Tiny Little Novel in Black and White by Bosley Gravel

Coping with life, with personal memories, Berk hides the hurt, but, once imprisoned, can he ever learn to be free? (Literary)

EDITOR’S NOTE: This renders with exquisite clarity, moment by moment, a masterpiece of hidden emotion and care. One of Bosley’s finest works. —zentao

The Hanged Man by Bosley Gravel

On a normal day, a normal little boy surrounded by very normal people pulls “something” from the ocean. (Literary)

Editor’s Note: I read this, highly impressed by theauthor’s subtle power and ability to, not just put us right there in the moment, which he does, but to nail human reaction to a tee. Bosley Gravel shows us a very uncannily accurate view of human “kind” in a tale that will bring those of conscience to perhaps reevaluate our xenophobic actions and reactions to that which is different, strange, and very much alive. —zentao

In the Shadow of the Red Rock by Bosley Gravel

Literary short story

Editor: zentao

The Last Warrior by Bosley Gravel

The last of his kind, a warrior tries to save an angel from the clutches of their dark, forbidding enemies. Surrounded, can he yet succeed, if only to preserve honor, righteousness and virtue? (Mythic Fantasy)

Love of the Dead by Bosley Gravel

Something’s out there in the desert. Something watches Joseph as he sweeps the parking lot of the convenience store set half-way between two cities. Something watches, and he is alone beneath a sickle moon, has a family, but is alone in life. The desert watches, but Joseph must now ask himself if death really makes for better company? (Literary/Horror)

Editor’s Note: Bosley Gravel is one of my favourite authors of late. His voice is mellow, yet cutting with a truth that pulls reader fully into the story to hear, see, feel, smell and taste it all as though that person truly is taking part. Explore, dear reader, with Joseph, a side of life we’d not yet wish to see. Enjoy. —womblin

November Gray by Bosley Gravel

Divorce — Mom, snotty little sister, and no more Dad. Thanksgiving’s coming. Will Sedrick eat a toad? (Literary/YA)

Editor’s Note: Bosley Gravel — what can I say about an author whose every story is memorable, regardless of genre. This one truly touches without pointing. —zentao

Rum Dum, a Tiny Little Novel in Black and White by Bosley Gravel

Can Jack Eliot’s faith save him from the gutter, or is he fated to spurn humanity forever? Can it be that only his ghosts can answer — or maybe the Hubba Monsters have something to say? (Literary)

EDITOR’S NOTE: How quickly one can succumb to the bottle and all its promises. How hard the climb out of that particular pit. But Jack Eliot does just this, and, under the watchful pen of Bosley Gravel, we learn a few truths about humanity, about how easy it can be to have it tough — especially where one’s past is concerned. Great reading, this. —womblin

Stafford’s Hands: A Tiny Novel in Black and White by Bosley Gravel

Looking for life? Looking for love? No? Have both, but not impressed? Perhaps you’ll find it by looking at what you already hold? (Literary)

EDITOR’S NOTE: A short novel about life, love, and the pursuit of self-expression, Bosley Gravel again “WOW’s” us with his special, very gifted talents. —zentao

Twice Buried, Once Shy by Bosley Gravel

“How can a corpse get revenge? Sometimes, what comes around…” (Slipstream / Horror / Experimental)

EDITOR’S NOTE: Bosley?s done it AGAIN. Another dark and emotion-loaded story, one which shows in plain detail the shriven soul of humanity. Thank you, Mr. Gravel, for keeping our horror-loving hearts fed. —womblin
