Edward McDermott short stories
Crossing the Lake by Edward McDermott
The wars of history are not all waged on the battlefield. Not all soldiers are heros. Neither are all heros soldiers; indeed they might not realize the war they wage is not against the enemy without, but with the hunger within…one that does not take sides. (Historical)
Editor’s Note: A truthful, poignantly powerful vignette. During a time in American history when all were viewed as patriots we see that the little talked about languishing poverty and the struggle to survive, reduce the fight for revolution to an event of little historical significance, indeed. —skyrider
