So we’re supposed to take your word for it?
We’re supposed to just “believe” that your book is a good, even G-R-E-A-T, read?
Ah, let’s see… .
- It’s “self-published.” That usually means no literary agent would represent it and no publisher wanted it, so you decided to release it yourself…or got tired of submitting before the requisite two years worth of effort.
- You don’t provide any excerpts of it, particularly the first few pages, maybe even a couple of chapters, of the book, leaving us no way to judge whether or not you know how to write an interesting story.
- You have no way for us to contact you.
- Nobody at all has remarked on your book — no reviews, no reader comments, nothing.
- You decided against even an audio excerpt, never mind a video trailer.
- You provide no press release or any promo- package.
- You don’t even have your book cover available for outside interests and their promotional efforts
- You have no author bio; you don’t have an author picture, either, not even an interesting avatar.
- You don’t have a website.
- Your “about this book” sounds suspiciously like…[ax grinding, amateurism at its worst, anything but a good, interesting novel with high intrigue and entertainment potential].
That is NOT the way to present your novel to the world of fiction reading. Authors, please do your best to put your best effort forward. If you spent the time to write it and polish it, then put forth the effort and money to publish it, do give your book its best chance at “making it.”
Please.
…get the reader hooked on a book for free, then offer them a way to purchase that book so they can finish the story, something I’m ready to institute here on TheDeepening…if I can get guaranteed, quality books…which means I have to read that book…or get someone I trust to read and review that book.
