ABOUT THE STORY, INCLUDING SNEAK PEEKS AT THE ILLUSTRATIONS
Baby Bear shares special moments with all the important people in his life.
With Momma, he gets to spend time in the garden, picnicking and planting butterfly bushes.
With Daddy, he spends time on the farm, helping to fix the tractor and dig holes for planting.
With Big Brother, he goes to the beach where they sail kites and chase each other on the sand.
Aunt Grace takes him to the aquarium and answers all his questions, while Uncle Roy shows him how to be a clown.
And it’s always a special day when Nana comes to visit.
But while each day’s activity and companion may be different, the routine at the end is always the same. Baby Bear is tucked into bed with a reading from a special book and always with a honey oatmeal raisin cookie.

The Last Brother, a Civil War Tale by Trinka Hakes Noble, illustrated by Robert Papp is a poignant, very balanced story of a bugle boy who lived through the Battle of Gettysburg. Beautifully illustrated, we follow Gabe and his brother’s plight through one of the most devastating battles of the Civil War. The story evokes a memorable realness, a sense of hardship and sadness, but, yet, spurs us to hope, and, in the end, it is hope amidst the devastation of war that holds to the end.
I highly recommend this award-winning children’s book.
